John T. Wilson, Jr. was born and raised on a family-owned cattle ranch in West Texas and brings those small-town sensibilities and ethics to his practice. John graduated in 2005 from Borden County High School as a three-time state debate champion. John continued his education at Harvard University, where he met his future wife and graduated with a degree in economics in 2009. John received his law degree from The University of Texas School of Law in 2012 and became a member of the Texas Bar Association that year.
After working at nationally recognized firms in Houston and Austin, John and his growing family moved to McAllen in 2020 to be closer to his wife's family. In 2023, John started WBBL as a solo practitioner with the goal of serving the Valley's diverse and vibrant business community.
John and Leslie have three sons, Jet, James, and Robert. In their free time, the Wilsons like to hunt, fish, barbecue, and watch college football.
Professional Experience
- Has represented clients in a wide range of private whole business acquisition and sale transactions, as well as asset purchase and sale transactions, with deal values ranging from a few hundred thousand dollars to over half a billion dollars.
- Has extensive experience working with issuers and investors in both public and private equity and debt issuances, including four initial public offerings on both the issuer and underwriter sides with an aggregate offering value in excess of $340 million.
- Regularly advises clients regarding contracts and agreements for products and services, including both the review of existing and proposed contracts as well as the drafting of entirely new contracts tailored to a client's specific needs.
- Routinely counsels clients with regard to entity formations, entity conversions, business structuring, and other corporate and partnership governance matters.
- Is qualified as an attorney mediator in the State of Texas under the Texas Civil Practice and Remedies Code, with a certificate from The University of Texas School of Law.
